Loved this post Junta,. I am glad you take the time for this thankless work. :) FWIW my favorite parts of your posts are usually the quotes from literature and non-fiction!
Thanks Ben. I have been thinking about what paid subscription options might work for my Substack, as it indeed can be called thankless work :-)
Very happy to hear you enjoy the quotes—originally through Goodreads, I've kept a collection of quotes from all the books I've read over the last 10 years or so (and counting), so it's quite fun digging up book titles (for the image) and quotes to go with the post!
Great Post Junta. "Why am I even doing this" is always in my mind because writing is quite difficult for me but I try to get better. My editorial line definitely isn't algorithm-optimal: I basically only write about what I think is interesting, with little regard to the zeitgeist and current controversies in the chess world. I do like that you too, along with Nate and others, have a disting and interesting voice in the chess world. My subscriber count slowly slowly rises and I am so grateful. Writing is incredibly rewarding and I'm happy to be there as well for this journey
Thank you Ben! You're the only chess performance coach I know, and I find your writing and other online output unique and valuable. Thanks for the kind words—Nate, along with Studer and Grigoryan are probably my favourite chess bloggers.
I am the editor of the Chess Journalists of America’s The Chess Journalist Newsletter/Magazine. Would you consider allowing us to reprint this or you submitting a similar article for our publication?
Here is where you can see what our work looks like.
I'm happy for you to reprint this post for your publication—please include my name and link. Regarding the illustrations, they are from the Japanese website, irasutoya https://www.irasutoya.com/ which allows the free use of up to 20 of its images in individual posts and publications, but I'd like you to remove all of them from the reprint. The photo is my own, so you're welcome to use that. If you'd prefer to discuss further in private rather than here, please feel free to contact me at juntaikeda@substack.com .

Thank you for considering.
