I'm definitely a process oriented person. I've never accepted a draw offer if I think the position is better for me (or even equal but with fighting chances). And still, I would have accepted that draw offer 100 times out of 100 if it meant I sealed the IM title. You get your IM title, celebrate and then resume your no-draws policy.
No shame, it was a 15 -year goal - achieved. No one can take it away. If you really were/are/will be GM strength not getting the norm in that tournament (perhaps you wouldn't have got it anyway) shouldn't have made a difference. No more pressure on making an IM norm/ 2400 - onwards and upwards.
Thanks Anthony, perhaps I was a little harsh in the choice of words in this post—you're right, and you can never know how things would have turned out if you'd made another choice in life anyway. We can only focus on what we do in the present.
I do see this being happy with a draw from a position of strength all too often in the chess world (as I've been prone to on a few occasions), now to advocate for fighting.

Fantastic post Junta, it brings me no pride to say that I would have taken the draw too!
We are finding more and more similarities in our chess! Especially when it isn't our most attractive moments...
