Great list Junta! I am a big fan of most on this list that I have read, so I guess I should also check out #s 1,2,5 and 9!

Thanks Ben! I wonder how many chess books you've read, and what your favourites are? 1 might not be so useful for you, but I can wholeheartedly recommend the other three.

Many thanks. Great photo of your clearly much loved “Mammoth Book of the World’s Greatest Chess Games”. I look forward to getting it when I can truly appreciate it.

You're welcome, Paul. Looking back, I don't know if I could 'truly appreciate it' when I got the book myself, but I hope you enjoy it when you decide to pick it up.

Might have to take the plunge on #9. I've been avoiding endgame studies for too long now haha.

I read how you've already worked on your calculation seriously, so studies might not be essential in that regard, but worth checking out if you're curious!

Last year I was looking through my old scoresheets and was astonished to see I had played a game against Gufeld! I had completely forgotten. It was a simul, of course, at his Hollywood Chess Academy around 2000, I think. I was about 1200 at the time, so it was a short and silly game, but wow - Gufeld! A nice moment of chess community, where you've been vaulted into one degree of separation from so many of the great players.

I bought his book, "My Life in Chess", while I was there, and did my best to eavesdrop. "Secrets! They love secrets!" he chortled about chess book titles. He was definitely a funny guy, larger than life.
